Description
Advisory Neighborhood Commission 4E unanimously adopted this resolution calling for stronger enforcement of federal and District housing standards, enhanced tenant protections, and increased accountability within the District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA) and the Housing Choice Voucher Program. The resolution urges DCHA to ensure compliance with Housing Quality Standards, promptly address health and safety violations, strengthen inspections and resident communications, and protect tenants from retaliation. It also encourages the Council to consider legislation preventing landlords with significant housing code violations or unpaid penalties from participating in the voucher program. Additionally, the resolution requests that the DC Office of the Inspector General and DCHA Office of Audit and Compliance conduct audits and special investigations to verify compliance with housing quality, inspection, safety, and occupancy requirements and improve oversight of Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 4E unanimously adopted this resolution calling for stronger enforcement of federal and District housing standards, enhanced tenant protections, and increased accountability within the District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA) and the Housing Choice Voucher Program.
