The Petworth Library renovation includes moving the youth services space (books, reading area, and programming area for young children) to the second floor, but the only way for parents with young children in a stroller/wagon/etc is to use the elevator, which is more often broken than not. The DCPL team in charge of this renovation presented at our November meeting, but when both ANC 4C and Petworth community members requested the inclusion of the elevator in the Petworth Library renovation, DCPL reps refused to consider this reasonable community input and request. Please note that this was the first community forum that DCPL held with the ANC and with the community.
