We have expressed concerns regarding the performance and reliability of the Office of Unified Communications' (OUC) 911 services. Specific issues highlighted include discrepancies in call-taking, text-to-911, and dispatch functions. These concerns stem from recent incidents where the 911 service errors have negatively impacted residents. Additionally, there is noted hesitancy from OUC in disclosing detailed information on these matters. ANC 1E also acknowledges a decline in the OUC's call performance in the early part of 2023. In response to these concerns, ANC 1E advocates for: (1) a public update on the implementation of the Auditor's 2021 recommendations by OUC, (2) increased transparency in data reporting, (3) the provision of 911 call recordings or transcripts to the respective callers, and (4) the establishment of an independent 911 task force to assess and provide recommendations on OUC's services.
