ANC 4E transmitted a formal recommendation to the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development regarding the future use of the publicly owned properties at 5760–5812 Georgia Avenue NW and Old Engine Company 22. Following a public surplus hearing and community engagement, the Commission voted unanimously to support redevelopment as a multi-use community hub anchored by a public library with dedicated ANC meeting space, a job training center for youth and adults, a child care facility, mixed-use housing and retail, and public open space. The Commission also urged consideration of rebuilding the Emery Recreation Center on the site to expand fields and playground areas, ensuring long-term community benefit and neighborhood revitalization.
