RESOLUTION #4B-20-0501 Requesting Elimination of One Parking Space on 3rd Street, NE Adopted May 26, 2020 Advisory Neighborhood Commission 4B takes note of the following: • A traffic study conducted by Gorove & Slade finds the sightlines at the driveway at Walmart (310 Riggs Road, NE) are poor for exiting vehicles due to topography and on-street parking. Vehicles were observed encroaching onto the sidewalk in order to improve visibility. This report recommends that one (1) or two (2) on-street parking spaces up- and downstream of the Walmart driveway be removed to improve the sightlines. • In addition to eliminating the spaces, installation of flex posts would prevent illegal parking in the future. • The proposed parking space removal will improve traffic safety and circulation in the vicinity of the Walmart.
