Advisory Neighborhood Commission 4B takes note of the following: • The DC Public Library’s Facilities Master Plan, published in November 2020, recognizes a public library service gap in Brightwood Park and Manor Park. The Plan specifically notes the importance of filling this service gap with regard to “educational attainment, children ages birth to 9[,] and single parent households.” According to the Plan, “there are a lot of individuals living in the area who do not currently use the Library and have the potential to become customers.” • Advisory Neighborhood Commission 4D has advocated to address the public library service gap in Brightwood Park and Manor Park. They approved a Resolution in April 2022 urging the DC Public Library to establish a library in Brightwood Park and a Resolution in March 2023 requesting Capital Improvement Plan funding for a new library at 5th and Kennedy Streets, NW.
